Critic Reviews of "Fear the Walking Dead - Season 1"Vinnie Mancuso New York ObserverSeptember 21, 2015
Luckily, at episode's end the stakes become far more personal and therefore more immediately urgent for our main characters.Todd VanDerWerff VoxSeptember 21, 2015
I really, really like what Fear the Walking Dead is doing. I was a bit hesitant to declare that love in the first two episodes, but "The Dog" and now "Not Fade Away" have sold me on whatever this show's long-term goal is.Cory Barker TV.comSeptember 21, 2015
I'm not sure the presence of the military or hints of a larger botched response to the outbreak made this a necessarily GOOD episode of TV, but there were enough intriguing moments in the mix to appreciate "Not Fade Away" more than the last two episodes.Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie FilesSeptember 21, 2015
While the characters have been at times infuriatingly frustrating early on, there may just yet be some hope for them after all.Alex Mullane Digital SpyNovember 18, 2015
It's a shame that after building momentum well throughout the opening three installments, the story loses steam in the fourth.Simon Abrams New York Magazine/VultureSeptember 21, 2015
Kirkman's one-dimensional characters present a particularly aggravating problem with tonight's episode, since "Not Fade Away" inevitably needs us to root against Lieutenant Moyers (Jamie McShane) and his brusque fellow military men.Paul Vigna Wall Street JournalSeptember 21, 2015
This is a well-done bit of storytelling that lays out life inside the fence, and plays off the fears of what lies outside the fence. Because of that, when the dramatic payoff comes at episode's end, it's gripping.M. King Adkins PopMattersSeptember 24, 2015
Not Fade Away suggests that the show might be able to honor its literary ambitions and its audience expectations at the same time. Will Salmon SFX MagazineSeptember 22, 2015
There were some strong moments... Still, we're two thirds of the way through the season now and it still feels as if Fear hasn't quite found its voice.Chelsea Tatham Tampa Bay TimesSeptember 21, 2015
Sunday's episode didn't give us hordes of walking corpses or fights to the death with walkers. It gave us the cliffhanger the show desperately needed.
