Critic Reviews of "The Crow"New YorkerApril 10, 2013
Alex Proyas's pulp revenge fantasy, based on a comic-book saga by James O'Barr, is dark, moody, and seductively overwrought; it's an amazingly pure expression of morbid adolescent romanticism.Philadelphia InquirerApril 10, 2013
It's a pleasure to welcome The Crow -- a bird of a very different feather.Orlando SentinelApril 10, 2013
As exploitation pictures go, I've seen a whole lot worse.Los Angeles TimesApril 10, 2013
The Crow, starring the late Brandon Lee, is like one long fright night. Even though it was photographed in color, the edge-of-darkness atmosphere descends on the audience like a shroud.Chicago TribuneApril 10, 2013
What's scary about The Crow is the story and the style itself: American Gothic, Poe-haunted nightmare, translated to the age of cyberpunk science fiction, revenge movies and outlaw rock 'n' roll, all set in a hideously decaying, crime-ridden urban hell.Entertainment WeeklyJuly 07, 2010
If The Crow is forgettable entertainment, it can stand as an eerie epitaph for an actor who looked like he was on the way to better things.Philadelphia Daily NewsApril 10, 2013
The Crow also runs a huge villain deficit.Baltimore SunApril 10, 2013
The movie's central value and its most melancholy tone -- Lee's star presence. It's amazing and it's tragic.South Florida Sun-SentinelApril 10, 2013
A stylized revenge fantasy of dark beauty.IGN DVDJanuary 29, 2012
The Crow is a visually immersive, emotionally wrought comic adaptation and one of the best gothic tales ever made.EmanuelLevy.ComApril 16, 2011
Stronger visually than thematically, this romantic film noir is utterly seductive
