Thomas is an award-winning screenwriter who began his writing journey when he secured a spot in Film Independent's Project:Involve Filmmaker Program. He still remains an active voting member of the nonprofit arts organization and their Independent Spirit Awards. His involvement with them led to a membership with the Writer's Guild of America.His technical directing duties for a national sports network led to an Academy of Television Arts & Sciences membership, where he served on Emmy judging panels for Outstanding Comedy/Drama Series. He also served as a judge for the Organization of Black Screenwriter's Screenplay Competition.His horror script "Enter At Own Risk" was chosen as an Official Selection and Finalist screenplay for several film festivals. It was nominated for the Best Unproduced Screenplay Award at RIP International Horror Film Festival, Independent Horror Movie Awards, and Shockfest Film Festival. This wasn't his first appearance at Shockfest. A year earlier, "Visible Scars", a film he co-wrote, won the coveted Best Feature Award. "Enter At Own Risk" also won the Star Award at the 2015 International Horror Hotel Film Festival. In that same year, the script won the Best Screenplay Award at Jive Azz Film Festival. The screenplay also won the Best Feature Film Horror Script Award at the 2016 American Grindhouse Film Festival.His drama screenplay "Mya's Truth" became a 2015 winner at WILDsound Writing Festival- an international screenplay competition. It was a winning screenplay at the 2016 Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and Nevada International Film Festival. The script was one of three Official Selection feature screenplays at the 2016 Hollywood Boulevard Film Festival, winning the Best Dramatic Screenplay Award. It was also an Official Selection/Finalist screenplay at the 2017 National Black Film Festival and 2017 Las Vegas Screenplay Contest.His more family-friendly screenplay "Mr. and Mrs. Santa" became an award-winning finalist at the 2016 Los Angeles Screenplay Contest.
