María Coral Otero Soto was born October 23, 1990 in Puerto Rico. She was introduced to art at a very young age, and began her career as a child actor. Her debut in film was at 13 years old with the lead role in the feature film Ruido, directed by Cesar Rodríguez. María Coral received great reviews for her work in Ruido by the American actress Kathy Bates, which was the jury director at the 2006 Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal, where that same year the film received the first ever Innovation Award given at the festival. With Ruido, María Coral also attended the VIII Santo Domingo Film Festival where the film won Best New Movie, and the Havana Film Festival winning the audience award.Although María Coral started acting, dancing and vocal classes at the age of nine, it was not until she finished high school that she devoted all her attention to more intense training. She began her studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus in 2008. By the hand of professors like Teofilo Torres, Carola Garcia, Petra Bravo, Jackeline Duprey and Dean Zayas. In 2010 María Coral became a member of the Teatro Rodante directed by Zayas. As part of the Teatro Rodante, María Coral worked in plays like Shakespeare's 'As You Like It', Valle Inclan 'Retablo de la Avaricia la Lujuria y la Muerte', and in Roy William's 'Days of Significance'. María Coral also became part of the theater company Teatro Repertorio, where she started in plays like 'Desde Toledo a Madrid', and Charley's Aunt were she worked with the veteran actress Johanna Rosaly. María Coral graduated with two bachelors degree, in Theater and Public Relations & Advertising, from the University of Puerto Rico in 2013.During her college years María Coral worked in professional theater, playing Anne Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank, in the musicals Jovenes.com and Los Titingós de Juan Bobo, written and directed by Carlos Ferrari. She also was the muse and creative collaborator for Angel Manuel Soto's short film En la Privacidad de mi Hogar, that was part of the New York International Latino Film Festival in 2011.In television María Coral is known for her work in acting and hosting various programs for Telemundo and Univision. She hosted for two seasons in the Walt Disney World Parks Christmas Specials for Telemundo (2009-2010), and later on in 2010 became the host of the weekly segment of Queslaq also in the same channel. Maria has worked in several movies for television, such as 'El Corrillo' and 'La Nena Se Casa', both directed by Vicente Castro. In La Nena se Casa, María Coral plays the daughter of the famous Puerto Rican singer Gilbertito Santa Rosa.On 2013 María Coral was part of the cast of Raul Marchand's film Broche de Oro. In this film she plays the character of Sofia, and attended the Chicago Latino Film Festival. The film became a great hit in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic receiving great reviews and staying in theaters for more than seven months. 2014 was a year of theater for María Coral, who completed a successful season of the acclaimed play TOC-TOC, and a starting role in the Gabriel García Marquez play Eréndira.
