This soon caught the attention of audiences and industry people across Japan.Later that year, Ken made the decision to come to America and study the Hollywood style of film making. Ken directed his first action film during the spring of 2001, in doing so he went back to Japan to scout the talents of Hayabusa Action Team, U'den Flame Works (Versus, Shinobi, Death Trance) and of course his older brother, Go. His first film was entitled "City of Yokohama", the name of Ken's hometown. The film won him Best Picture 2001 at his school and it even played it at a local theater for a limited time. Audiences were fascinated and the response was overwhelming. A year later Ken had another chance to direct a 16mm action short film project. His next project was called "Imagery" and was shot in the winter of 2002. Again, Ken won his schools best picture award.
