Dean Farwood has a long history in the theater. He has seen many plays and, over the years, has watched hundreds of movies. He is best know for complaining about poor lighting, poor acting, and dumb dialog. His only professional experience was in the Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine where he appears for 4-5 seconds although his voice can be heard for at least 10 seconds. This speaking part, for which he earned the opportunity to join the Screen Actors' Guild, brought him many positive reviews from his friends. On numerous occasions he has expressed his sympathy for the extras in that scene - real actors who would no doubt give anything to have any kind of speaking role in any movie - to whom Dean had to explain that he only got the part because he actually does teach computer technology at the school where the scene was shot.In the other 22,264 days when Dean was not a movie star, he earned his reputation as a failed musician, failed chess player, disenchanted physical therapist, eccentric technology instructor and now spends his time as an academic technology program director and as an evangelist for the virtuoso Baroque keyboardist and modern composer, Anthony Newman.
